Retiree Advisory Committee

The Retiree Advisory Committee (RAC) is comprised of 12 CIBC retirees who are geographically dispersed across Canada and are a connection between you and CIBC. The RAC’s mandate is to represent the views of CIBC retirees on issues that affect them and provide input on retiree communications and policies. Committee members also act as ambassadors and local champions for announced changes.

The group operates on a structured basis, with a revolving chairperson and a dedicated liaison from CIBC. Members are committed to a 4-year term, while the Chair and Vice-Chair commit to a 5-year term.

To register, go to myBenefits Opens in a new window. Follow these steps: 

  1. Select New User.
  2. Enter your HR ID and your date of birth, then select Continue.
  3. Enter your postal or zip code, then select Continue.
  4. Follow the instructions to create a user ID, password and PIN, then select Continue.
  5. Select your five security questions and answers, then select Continue.
  6. Select whether you would like to be remembered on this device, then select Continue.
  7.  When the Completed Successfully message appears, select Continue to go to the home page.
  8. Be sure to select Your Profile and update your profile, including your personal email address.

 

Important: Make sure your home and email addresses are up to date.

From the myBenefits home page, select Your Profile.

  1. From the dropdown menu, select Personal Information.
  2. For the information you want to update, select Change.
  3. Add or update your information and mark it as Preferred. 
  4. Select Save.

For home address changes, make sure you also inform your local banking centre.

Reminder: Review your beneficiaries for your life insurance and pension benefits. Ensure the information is accurate and make changes if required. For pension benefits, beneficiary changes are allowed only if you elected a pension option with a guaranteed period.

Note that if you elected a Joint and Survivor form of pension where the pension continues to your spouse after your death, you cannot change your spouse after commencing your pension. Only your spouse at your date of retirement is entitled to the survivor pension after your death.

Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP)

Take advantage of a wide variety of confidential services to support you and your family. When you want to find better solutions to your life challenges, the EFAP can help. EFAP is a confidential, free service for you and your immediate family that provides support for personal and relationship issues, health coaching and nutrition consulting, legal advice and elder care information. 

All EFAP services are provided by LifeWorks through a network of more than 1,000 professional counsellors located across Canada. All direct services are paid for by CIBC. If long-term support or specialized care is required, LifeWorks will refer you to an affordable community resource. You will then be responsible for any fees your benefits plan or provincial health plan does not cover.

EFAP is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:

Retiree Volunteer Program

CIBC’s Retiree Volunteer Program allows retirees to volunteer in their community and earn reward dollars from CIBC in return ($12.50 per hour volunteering). Retirees can then donate these reward dollars to a charity of their choice, up to a maximum of $500 per calendar year. Reward dollars can be split between multiple charities if the retiree chooses.

Eligibility for The Retiree Volunteer Program is open to former CIBC employees who started to receive retirement income benefits from the CIBC Pension Plan immediately upon retirement, on a non-deferred basis. Retirees are required to record their volunteer time online using CIBC’s giving and volunteering platform by Benevity, a secure online tool that is available year-round. All retiree volunteer program applications must be done online using this system. 

If you wish to use the platform by Benevity, follow these steps to get started:

  2. Select “Sign in with a login and password.”
    1. Your username is your HR ID which you can find on your Sun Life drug card. If you need assistance locating your HR ID or if you do not have a Sun Life drug card, call the Human Resources Contact Center at 1-800-668-0918Opens in your phone app..

To make a referral, follow these simple steps:

  1. Ensure you have a personal relationship with your referral and that they have given you permission to share their contact information with CIBC.
  2. On your desktop or mobile device, visit the CIBC Ambassador Program page.
  3. Fill out the “Advice and solutions,” “Make it Right” or “Career referrals” form and include some details about what your friend or family member is looking for.
  4. When adding your name, choose the “I’m a retired CIBC employee” option.

We will send you an email acknowledging that we have received your referral. Your friend or family member will be contacted within 2 business days.
